Alan DeLaTorre

Alan DeLaTorre is a self-described “urban gerontologist” who is focused on advancing urban policy, city planning, and age-friendly housing and communities. He has been involved in Portland’s age-friendly efforts since 2006, first as a student then as faculty at Portland State University (PSU), and later as a member of the Comprehensive and Strategic Planning team at the City of Portland’s Bureau of Planning and Sustainability. Dr. DeLaTorre currently serves as an age-friendly consultant and as an adjunct research associate and professor in PSU’s College of Urban and Public Affairs where he teaches courses in gerontology, and urban studies and planning. He is passionate about accessible and affordable housing, inclusive physical environments, and ensuring Portland continues to advance its age and disability friendliness.
